The worst thing about those idiots is that they keep annoying you every chance they get, but after you wasted a load of precious 5.56 rounds on them and your LR300 has decayed to 50%, all they drop is those old sawn-off shotguns and Makarov PM/PMm's, with the very occasional MP5. They cost more than they drop.

It's best to use a 5.45 rifle (your choice) against them. Or other weapons of calibers that they use. I like the AKS-74U. Even after I have plenty of better weapons, I still like the '74U as a backup weapon when I'm exploring certain parts of the Zone (like the Rostok Wilds where you likely have a 5.56 rifle as a primary weapon). In pre-bar areas, I prefer an AN-94 or AK-74 as a primary weapon, so the '74U becomes pointless. Also, it's a g0od idea to always scavange the ammo out of every dropped weapon you find. Weapons found in stashes always (or almost always) are loaded with a full mag.

When I get beset by bandits, I usually kill a few of them quickly, and try to snatch up an MP5 (Viper 5 in STALKER terms) - they're good and efficient against numerous weak targets. Once the bandits are gone, I drop the MP5.

I also unload all dropped weapons and such, but it's useless when all the enemies drop are inferior weapons with a calibre different to your choice weapon
